Web Alert: security situation in Yemen - update
News & Insights 7 April 2015
According to local correspondents, the Port of Aden continues to be closed and communications are becoming increasingly difficult.
Further to our web alert of 26 March the situation in Yemen remains volatile.
According to local correspondents, the Port of Aden continues to be closed and communications are becoming increasingly difficult.
We are told that the ports of Hodeidah, Saleef, Mokha and Ras Isa are operating as normal and no vessels have been stopped from calling at those ports. However, the warnings in our previous web alert continue to apply and members considering trading to the region should exercise extreme caution.
As previously advised, members should liaise closely with local agents and port and flag state authorities before calling at Yemeni ports. We suggest that members also notify their hull and machinery underwriters and war risks providers. Members should also comply with the most recent version of Best Management Practices (Version 4) when transiting the region's waters.
