Web alert: PSC concentrated campaign in Paris, Black Sea and Tokyo MOU

Members attention is drawn to the attached USCG Marine Inspection Notice issued by the Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance regarding the recently announced concentrated inspection campaign (CIC) in the Paris, Black Sea and Tokyo MOUs which will focus on compliance with SOLAS Chapter II – 2 (safety of propulsion and auxiliary machinery).

Note that special attention is expected to be given to crew familiarity with the safety and emergency procedures with regard to these areas. The CIC will run from 1 September 2013 to 30 November 2013. Also note the questionnaire attached to the notice which is the inspection checklist which will be used by port state control inspectors and provides a good idea of the areas in which port state control efforts will be focused.
