The club understands that Peru has recently been severely affected by heavy rains causing flooding in some parts of the country. A state of emergency has been declared by the Peruvian government mostly relevant to the northern part of Peru. Whilst all major ports are said to be still operational there has however been some disruption to the Peru’s road network. Local correspondents have advised that the Central Highway which runs from Lima into the Andes has been affected, along with parts of the rail network connecting sites of mining activities. Correspondents have suggested that containerised cargoes especially agricultural and fish products may be affected and also advised extra care should be taken involving bulk cargoes including soy, maize and fertiliser.
