A fire at a petrochemical tank farm near Houston has resulted in the Houston ship channel being closed. The decision was taken by the US Coast Guard on Friday the 22nd following a containment dike being breached at the facility as a result of the fire.
Movement was initially halted on Friday the 22nd between Tucker Bayou and Ship Channel light 116, said Coast Guard Vessel Tracking Service Watch Supervisor Derby Flory, and expanded to Crystal Bay. US Coast Guard are monitoring the situation and a decision to reopen parts of the channel on a limited basis will be taken on Monday the 25th.
