Seafarer wellbeing has been a focal topic for Standard Club in recent years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Loss Prevention department will continue to raise awareness of the topic, focusing on what more we can do to support our seafarers and foster a safer shipping industry. As such we are proud to be working in partnership with Sailors’ Society’s Wellness at Sea programme, sharing helpful advice and resources over the next few months.

Sailors’ Society has been giving practical, emotional, and spiritual help to seafarers and their families for more than 200 years. Their ship visitors work in 90 ports around the world, reaching 1,000 seafarers every day on ships or in our seafarers’ centres. In response to COVID-19, Sailors’ Society have expanded their Wellness at Sea programme as part of their ‘circle of care’ approach, offering seafarers support across both their work and home lives.

This new campaign has been uniquely extended to include families and shore staff. It aims to help motivate crews, their families, and shore staff, while also making them aware of the different resources that are available to them.

Stay tuned to this space as we share more resources from both Standard Club and Sailors’ Society in the coming weeks.
