News: Wash Damage and Speed Regulation in Parana River
News & Insights 11 November 2020
The Parana Coast Guard has established that, due to safety reasons, vessels shall navigate cautiously and reduce to the minimum speed compatible with the good steering whenever there are other vessels moored, manoeuvring or under lightering operations nearby berths and port terminals.
As previously mentioned in the club's news item last month, Parana River is experiencing historically low levels. As such, the Parana Coast Guard has established that, due to safety reasons, vessels shall navigate cautiously and reduce to the minimum speed compatible with the good steering whenever there are other vessels moored, manoeuvring or under lightering operations nearby berths and port terminals.
For further details, members are recommended to refer to the attached circular issued by club’s correspondent in Argentina (Pandi Liquidadores), and discuss the applicable speed regulations as part of a Master/Pilot information exchange to prevent wash damage incidents and associated disputes.
