The Standard Club has announced the appointment of Rebecca Hamra as President and Regional Claims Director of Charles Taylor P&I Management (Americas), Inc., the representative office for the Standard Club in the Americas.
The Standard Club has announced the appointment of Rebecca Hamra as President and Regional Claims Director of Charles Taylor P&I Management (Americas), Inc., the representative office for the Standard Club in the Americas. A graduate of Tulane University School of Law, Becky joined Charles Taylor in 2011 as a Claims Executive. She currently represents the club on the IG Pollution Subcommittee and serves as Vice-Chair of the Maritime Torts and Casualty Committee of the Maritime Law Association of the US.
The New York office is a key part of the club’s network of offices. Its primary responsibility is to serve the club’s members in the Americas, which constitute 11% of the club’s owned tonnage. This is done through providing ongoing education, support and guidance to members, especially regarding US-specific issues, and on the ground claims handling.
LeRoy Lambert continues as General Counsel to maintain the club’s in-house capabilities, particularly with regard to the management of complex US claims and dispute resolution.
Sarah Wallace, from the Offshore Division in London, has relocated to New York as Claims Director. Sarah is a qualified lawyer in Scotland and in England and Wales. Before joining the club, Sarah worked in private practice in Aberdeen. She joined the club’s Offshore Division in 2013. Since then, she has handled a variety of P&I and FD&D claims for owners and charterers and headed the offshore contract review team.
The other members of the New York team are Clement Lehembre, Claims Executive, a French-trained lawyer who joined the in team in 2017 after years of experience in Paris in the cargo and hull markets, and Joseph Devine, Claims Executive, a lawyer who worked the last five years as a tanker broker at a leading brokerage firm in Connecticut before joining the New York team in March of 2019.
