It has been reported that China has partly closed the world’s third-busiest container port after a worker became infected with Covid-19. All container services at Meishan terminal in Ningbo-Zhoushan port were halted on Wednesday causing delays and disruption. It is also reported that some ships are being diverted to other ports.

The club would like to thank its local correspondent, Huatai Insurance Agency & Consultant Service, Ningbo Office for the following update:

As published by the local authorities, a 34-year-old worker from Ningbo - Zhoushan port of East China's Zhejiang province was found to be positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday (11th August 2021). The detailed news report was published by China daily which could be found via below links:

https://www.chinadaily.com.cn/a/202108/11/WS611354c2a310efa1bd668267.html

(Remark: it seems a typo occurred in the first sentence of the report, as the worker is from Ningbo port but not Zhoushan port)

It is also reported that, at the same day, the Meishan port area, as a major container port at Ningbo, had been required to cease operations for disinfection. No official notification was published about when the disinfection is expected to be accomplished.

Additionally, the Ningbo – Zhoushan port consists of 19 port areas including Zhenhai, Beilun, Chuanshan, Meishan, Daxie etc. Except for Meishan, the other port areas are operating normally. As we learnt from our private channel, at the time of writing, no stricter epidemic prevention policy is published by the local authorities on the vessel’s operation at Ningbo – Zhoushan port.

In view of the above, we suggest the vessel which is scheduled to Meishan port area of Ningbo - Zhoushan port keep close contact with the local agent for the port condition. We will also keep you posted regarding the development at Ningbo – Zhoushan Port.

We hope the above update would be of assistance. Should you have any inquiry, please feel free to contact us.

Members are advised to get in touch with their local agents or club correspondents to seek further information when calling at ports / berths in Ningbo.
