The status of the 13 vessels alongside remains unknown. Severe damage is also reported to buildings outside the port within a radius of 5km.
Beirut port is currently closed and vessels will be diverted to Tripoli to discharge their cargo.
We are informed that our correspondent Maurice G Mouracade & Co, and Elias Marine remain safe and are working remotely. The port is currently off limits to correspondents due to the ongoing investigation and debris removal.
