The club has received updates from its correspondents in Ukraine following recent unrest in the country and in particular the impact upon ports at the Black Sea and in the Crimea region.
We understand from our correspondents at Odessa that all main ports are operational and stable, including:
· Sevastopol
· Kerch
· Theodosia
· Mariupol
· Berdyansk
· Nikolaev
· Dneprobugskiy
· Oktyabrskiy
· Odessa
· Ilyichevsk
· Yuzhny
It is reported that the situation at the port of Kherson is less stable and is liable to civil unrest. It is recommended that crews from vessels trading at the port do not go ashore at Kherson.
When ashore at other ports, crew members should exercise caution generally and should avoid any area where it appears that a demonstration or political rally may be taking place.
The club is told that political tension in the region is easing and that Russian military personnel are returning to their usual posts. However, the situation may change within a short period of time and the club suggests that its members receive up-to-date information from their local agents and the club’s correspondents before calling at ports in Ukraine.
