With effect from 7 AM on Monday 27 of May members of International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) began “limited and targeted” strike action in the Vancouver area. The actions are currently taking place at GCT Vanterm and GCT Deltaport.
Whilst the actions do not mark a complete stoppage or walk out they are expected to delay operations at both terminals. Full-scale strike cannot be ruled out albeit more talks between unions and B.C. Maritime Employers Association are expected to resume.
Members making calls in the Vancouver are warned to expect delays and contact their local agents for specific advice.
The Strike Club’s dedicated risk map will continue to be updated with information on the risk environment as it develops.
