On 15 August 2013 the International Maritime Organization issued circular letter No. 3394 highlighting the Interim Guidelines for Owners, Operators and Masters for protection against piracy
On 15 August 2013 the International Maritime Organization issued circular letter No. 3394 highlighting the Interim Guidelines for Owners, Operators and Masters for protection against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea region, which are intended to be read in conjunction with Best Management Practices.
The circular letter also expresses the Maritime Safety Committee’s deep concern for, and condemnation of, piracy and armed robbery against ships and the extreme violence exhibited against crews in the Gulf of Guinea.
