Web alert: BIMCO provides time charter party for RoPax

BIMCO has now formulated the standard time charter party for the RoPax ferry sector. Earlier this summer, the new contract codenamed ROPAXTIME was published. ROPAXTIME is the first tailor-made contract for the RoPax trade and provides parties with a comprehensive contractual platform on which to do business. The charter party contains the latest standard time charter clauses and includes detailed provisions covering trade specific issues such as hotel, restaurant; and passenger related issues. Parties no longer have to rely on heavily amended versions of contracts drafted for other trades such as NYPE, BALTIME and GENTIME.

ROPAXTIME is intended to facilitate quicker contract negotiations and reduce the risk of contractual disputes by providing balanced and RoPAx-specific clauses.

The club recommends that members consider using ROPAXTIME when forming RoPax trade contracts. Members should always consult the club to ensure that inclusion of the ROPAXTIME clauses will be compatible with their cover.
