Further to the club’s previous news item on the ban of single use plastic in Indian waters, members are advised that the Indian Director General of Shipping (DGS) has issued an update on 21 Nov 2019.
As per the notice which can be viewed in the attachment on the right, the DGS has agreed to work with the industry to establish a revised implementation schedule. The prohibition on single use of plastic is put on hold till a revised implementation schedule is finalised and ships are permitted to avail reception facilities for all waste including single use plastics at all Indian ports.
We will keep the club’s members updated when the revised implementation schedule is issued by the DGS.
