New procedures came into force in 2017 that allowed private certified survey companies to carry out pre-loading inspections of the holds and tanks in accordance with the criteria established by SENASA.

Local correspondents Pandi Liquidadores SRL report that SENASA has now decided to supervise a proportion of the inspections of holds and tanks. This took effect on 18 November 2020 and will be trialled for twelve months.

Pandi Liquidadores SRL inform that according to SENASA Resolution 861/2020, between 10% to 20% of the vessels will be inspected by SENASA at berth before loading to supervise the inspection of holds/tanks carried out by the private surveyors. The vessels will be selected according to risk criteria that will take into account the year built, last three cargoes, intended cargo and the records of the attending surveyors.

For further details on this new practice, please read the attached circular issued by Pandi Liquidadores SRL.
