According to the club's local correspondent GAC, they have information from the harbour master that access to Saleef Port is restricted by the naval forces of the coalition led by Saudi Arabia. Coalition forces are reported to have ordered all ships to sail from Saleef Port at 02:35 on 21 August 2015.
Further, GAC advises that coalition naval forces have arrested many ships at Bab Al Mandab and are preventing access to Yemeni ports.
Members should be cautious when calling at ports in the region. It is recommended that members carry out a full voyage risk-assessment and liaise closely with port and flag state authorities, as well as local agents. Members should notify their hull and machinery underwriters and war risks providers of any such call.
The local situation remains unstable. The club will continue to monitor the position and keep members closely advised.
