Further to the club's latest update in respect of strengthened quarantine measures against the propagation of the Zika Virus in South Korea, members are advised that the country’s quarantine measures have been scaled back to normal procedures and requirements.
South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare has removed the Zika virus from the list of quarantinable diseases following the WHO’s declaration on 18 November 2016 that the Virus will no longer be treated as an international public health emergency.
According to the National Quarantine Station in South Korea, vessels calling South Korea after having called at any of the affected countries (including vessels in transit) are no longer required to produce the Self-Disinfection Certificate prior to arrival at a Korean port or carry out ship Sanitation Control inspections on board. As such, normal quarantine procedures by radio pratique message (RPM) will be sufficient for the vessels entering South Korea.
