The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Cultivation in Egypt has issued a Ministerial Decree No. 1421 for the year 2016 according to which there is a zero percentage tolerance on wheat affected by Ergot Fungus and it is prohibited to import cargo which is not within the permissible specifications.

The local authorities have rejected several shipments recently and the vessels have encountered delays. Members considering a carriage of wheat to Egypt are recommended to insert a clause in their charterparties absolving them of any expenses or responsibility in relation to this issue.
