On July 14, 2015, the P5+1, the European Union and Iran, reached a Join Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program will be exclusively peaceful. On the18 October 2015 the JCPOA came into effect which is known as “Adoption Day” in that all of the participants including the US, are required to make the necessary arrangements to implement their respective commitments under the JCPOA.

On 5 October 2015, a settlement of US$20bn was agreed between BP and the US and the five Gulf States (Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas) in order to resolve BP’s civil claims emanating from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill which occurred in 2010 off the coast of Louisiana.
