Sanctions in Syria

Both the EU and US have imposed extensive sanctions against Syria in light of the humanitarian situation.

Key restrictions

  • asset freeze of listed persons/entities
  • ban on transporting or exporting Syrian crude oil or petroleum products including related re(insurance)
  • sale or supply of jet fuel and fuel additives to Syria
  • export of key equipment or technology for use in Syria’s oil & gas industry
  • export  of arms and equipment which might be used for internal repression
  • sale or supply of luxury goods
  • trading in gold, silver and other precious metals
